Thegage must read at least 1. See Terminology E for a description of terms. If more than one gage is used, one may be arecording gage.
At least one gage which is used for acceptanceof the test shall be calibrated within 30 days prior to use. Oneindicating gage must be easily visible to the operator control-ling the pressure throughout the pressurizing and testing cycle.
Thereafter slowly increase the pressure to the final testpressure. Examination for leakage shallbe made of all accessible joints and connections, attachmentwelds where practical, and weep holes for paddings andattachments.
Also inspect the area around inaccessible leakagesites. The magnitudeof leak shall be described in terms of: The air vents need to be opened during draining toadmit air and prevent collapsing of the test system. As a minimum the testpressure should be held for 10 min and the maximum timeshould be limited to 2 h. Pretest to Locate Gross Leaks A minimum pressure is kPa 25 psi forthis test. No round-robin tests have been made to deter-mine the precision and reliability of this method.
The bias ofthe test is dependent on the operational procedure used and thetraining and qualification of the operators.
